After making her way to China to become a missionary, an English parlor maid (Ingrid Bergman) wins the heart of a Eurasian colonel (Curt Jurgens) and the respect of the local Mandarin (Robert Donat). But her greatest accomplishment is leading 100 homeless children to safety across enemy-held terrain during Japan's invasion of China.

Adapted from the novel "The Small Woman" about the true-life story of Gladys Aylward, this powerfully poignant film is inspiring entertainment from beginning to end.

In the world around us it is hard to always see the good in bad times yet Gladys does. She gives hope to all of us. She did what God called her to do even when the they said it was not possible. she went and saved 100 children and countless souls for the Kingdom of our Dear Lord and Savior. the people called her Jenni meaning "The one who loves". May we all be called the same. This is my favorite movie of all time. Here is why: In the world around us it is hard to always see the good in bad times; yet Gladys did. She gives hope to all of us; just as she did to the lives she touched. She did what God called her to do even when the others said it was not possible. she went and saved 100 children and countless souls for the Kingdom of our Dear Lord and Savior. she worked tirelessly; the people saw Jesus when they saw her; the people called her Jenni meaning "The one who loves". May we all be able to be called the same. As I read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a I think of this beloved Sister.
