Resizing Your Browser’s Text Size

This page will instruct you how to increase and decrease the size of the text on a web page without distorting the images. Click the name of your browser from the list below to see the instructions for that browser.

Internet Explorer Show

  • Press ‘Alt + v’. Select ‘Text Size’ and select the text size desired from the list.

    • FirefoxShow

    On Windows

  • Press ‘Alt + v’. Select ‘Zoom’ and select ‘Zoom Text Only’ so that there is a check mark to the left of ‘Zoom Text Only’.

  • Press ‘Ctrl + +’ to enlarge the text size.
  • Press ‘Ctrl + -’ to reduce the text size.
  • Press ‘Ctrl + 0’ to reset the text size to 100%.

    • On a Mac

  • Press ‘ + v’. Select ‘Zoom’ and select ‘Zoom Text Only’ so that there is a check mark to the left of ‘Zoom Text Only’.

  • Press ‘ + +’ to enlarge the text size.
  • Press ‘ + -’ to reduce the text size.
  • Press ‘ + 0’ to reset the text size to 100%.

    • ChromeShow

    On Windows

  • Press ‘Alt + f’. Select ‘Options’.

  • Click ‘Under the Hood’ on the left.
  • Locate the ‘Web Content’ and select the ‘Font size’ from the drop-down menu.

  • Restart the Chrome browser (if results don’t display right away).

    • On a Mac

  • Press ‘ + ,’or select ‘Chrome’ from the main menu and then select ‘Preferences. . . ’.

  • Click ‘Under the Hood’ on the left.
  • Locate the ‘Web Content’ and select the ‘Font size’ from the drop-down menu.

  • Restart the Chrome browser (if results don’t display right away).

    • SafariShow

    On Windows

  • Press ‘Alt’ then press ‘Alt’ (again), then press ‘v’. Select ‘Zoom Text Only so that there is a check mark to the left of ‘Zoom Text Only’.

  • Press ‘Ctrl + F12’.
  • Select the ‘Advanced’ tab and select ‘Fonts’ on the left.
  • Type in desired text size in the ‘Minimum font size (pixels) field.

  • Click ‘OK’.

    On a Mac

  • Press ‘ + ,’.
  • Select the ‘Advanced’ tab and select ‘Fonts’ on the left.
  • Type in desired text size in the ‘Minimum font size (pixels) field.

  • Click ‘OK’.
