Forced to take charge of a Christian high school’s struggling drama department, burned-out math teacher Theodore Pitts must tell the students that the next show will be their last.
But when Mr. Pitts meets the theater program’s band of tragic misfits, he can’t quite bring himself to deliver the bad news.
Pitts announces that their next production will be “Jonah and the Whale.” But with only one week to rehearse, the students’ inability to overcome their own interpersonal drama threatens to sink the whole show.
Frustrated with the kids and his dead-end career, Pitts secretly courts a better job outside of teaching. All these madcap efforts land him in his own proverbial (and literal?) belly of the whale.
This zany re-telling of the Book of Jonah has lots of laughs and a profound message about following God’s direction while caring about those he directs us to.
