- A must have for any musical family

The Joy of Bach is a wonderful demonstration of how timeless and inspiring Bach's music is. The program breaks from conventional documentaries as it does more than talk about Bach's music and life. It goes a step further to share the joy that people can experience from Bach's music in a variety of settings from churches to discotheques and from harpsichords to synthesizers. This program contains short clips of performances of Bach's music by a variety of artists including the Canadian Brass Christopher Parkening Yehudi Menuhin and the Brooklyn Boys Chorus. The Joy of Bach was one of the first programs my parents ever owned on VHS. Since our family was very musical this program became a staple in family entertainment. Our original video cassette was lost or damaged but at a recent Christmas party my parents distributed copies of the DVD version to each of their grown children. Now our family can continue to enjoy The Joy of Bach and pass that joy on to their children. Thank you for making this program available on DVD.

- A Joy to Watch

Of the three musical videos Handel, Bach and Joy of Bach, this is the one with the most information. You can learn something even if like me, you do not know how to play an instrument or know much about music. This is 197o's and just the clothing and hair alone make it pure entertainment. But the actor Brian Blessed is knowledgable and enthusiastic. This is a good one for the church library, but dated enough that one look is enough.
