Lee Johnson is absolutely among the world's finest composers of the 21st century. His unique abilities to combine the vast tradition and expressive power of the classical world with selected elements from his time mark him as a true modern classicist. Equally comfortable as composer or conductor, he is able to draw out incredible poetic performances from the orchestra and from singers. In addition, his special flair for contemporary soloists makes for a vibrant combination of sound and musical energy in his compositions. Johnson has composed symphonies, operas, ballets, chamber and coral works, concerti, solo vocal music and more. He has also composed for multimedia and interactive technologies as well as award--winning short and experimental film. His music is broadcast globally and he has received many awards for his compositional output. Johnson's work with artists Clay Powers and Donald Tipton has spanned more than ten years. They formed the production company Kings Bishop Productions and have added a partnership with Erdenklang Musikverlag, CCn'C Records and Legacy Group Productions.

Editorial Reviews

When our lives are bombarded with busyness and our focus becomes scattered, it is important to step back and regroup so we can get back to spiritual basics. Sandfloor Cathedral will whisk you away from the rush of everyday life and transport you to the depths of the ocean floor, lifting your burdens away. Brilliant underwater photography combines in this powerful DVD with a moving symphony composed by Lee Johnson and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and English, Latin, and Hebrew lyrics sung by London Metro voices, Atlanta Schola Canorum, and the young Singers of LaGrange. The vivid images of underwater life and the various symphonic movements complement each other to lift spirits and calm the soul. Extra features included interviews with composer Lee Johnson, photography director Donald Tipton, and editor Clay Powers. Also included are behind-the-scenes videos, a CD with the original music sound track by Johnson, and an auto-play feature. This DVD is perfect for private meditation or for viewing on a large screen that can capture the amazing images. - Mary Lou Henneman
