Description

Queen Esther: Based upon the Old Testament Book of Esther, this dramatic Biblical film strikes squarely at religious misunderstanding and prejudice. Its great message is that God never fails those who love and serve Him. The story's special meaning for today is stressed by opening and closing scenes in a modern Jewish home. It is the Feast of Purim when the Book of Esther is opened and read to recall the Jews' rescue from death at Shushan. As grandfather reads from the Scripture, the whole drama comes to life on the screen. Produced by the Rev. James K. Friedrich for Cathedral Films. Directed by John T. Coyle. (1947, 47 minutes, B&W)

Ruth: This is the story of Ruth, a young widow from the heathen land of Moab. It reflects on her devotion to her mother-in-law Naomi, her marriage to the rich landowner Boaz, and her faith in the one true God. The Old Testament Book of Ruth is a tender, insightful account of the meaning of faith. The story ends with God's promise that from the descendants of Ruth will come the Messiah. (1937, 36 minutes, B&W)
