Description

Genesis — The story begins with the creation of man and woman, the sin committed by Adam and Eve, and their banishment from Paradise. The story continues with the first crime committed by mankind, Cain's murder of his brother, the condemnation of God, and mankind's corruption and evil. The choice of Noah, a just and upright man, to build the Ark, the flood and its clearing the way for a new mankind, the pact of the eternal Covenant between God and all living beings, are told through the clear and simple words of an old nomad shepherd.

Moses — Moses is awe-struck when God, in the form of a burning bush, calls him to guide the Israelites out of bondage. The reluctant leader and his flock begin the treacherous journey to the Promised Land. However, Pharaoh intends to stop the exodus and with his brutal army traps the Israelites by the Red Sea. Yet these Israelites are God’s chosen people, and the waters part, allowing their safe passage. Starring Ben Kingsley.

Esther — Following the conquest of Babylon, the King of Persia gives a banquet for his people, but his wife, Vashti, refuses to attend. Ahasuerus disowns Vashti and goes in search of her replacement. In his harem, he meets the young girl Esther and falls in love with her. Esther then reveals to Ahasuerus that she is Jewish and asks him to show her people mercy because of a planned genocide of the Jews by the King’s right-hand man, Haman. In doing so, she saves the lives of many innocent people. Starring Louise Lombard and F. Murray Abraham.

Solomon — Solomon is crowned King of Israel and rules the land with love, peace and respect. While visiting the city, Solomon meets the beautiful Queen of Sheba and falls in love. When she returns to her homeland, Solomon falls into a deep depression, departing from his once idyllic world of peace and luxury while his kingdom threatens to collapse. Starring Ben Cross, Vivaca A. Fox, and Max von Sydow.

Jeremiah — Jeremiah tells the story of the prophet who abandons his family and the woman he loves in order to relay God's message in Jerusalem. Although he is persecuted and branded as a traitor for warning others of the destruction of the Holy City, he continues fearlessly with his mission. When his prophecy is fulfilled, he experiences first-hand Jerusalem's destruction by the Babylonians. Starring Patrick Dempsey. Starring Patrick Dempsey, Oliver Reed, and Klaus M. Brandauer.

Jesus — This television mini-series, which aired on CBS in May 2000, looks at the life of Jesus from His humble beginnings as a carpenter through His extraordinary life and the mission of His spiritual destiny. This is a superb production and should prove very helpful to stimulate interest on the part of a Biblically illiterate generation to want to know more about the Gospels and the extraordinary life, death, resurrection and meaning of Jesus. With a $24 million budget, Jesus was shot on location in Morocco and Malta. This television event features an all-star cast including Jeremy Sisto, Gary Oldman, Armin Mueller-Stall, Jacqueline Bisset, Debra Messing, and David O'Hara. It also includes the music of Leann Rimes, Steven Curtis Chapman, Avalon, Jaci Velasquez, DC Talk, Yolanda Adams, Patrick Williams, 98 Degrees, Hootie and the Blowfish, Sarah Brightman, Lonestar, and Edwin McCain.

Paul the Apostle — From the Emmy award-winning director Roger Young (Joseph and Jesus) comes the spectacular story of Paul the Apostle. This augmented adaptation, largely based on the biblical account, profiles Christ's most prolific messenger. Paul, originally known as Saul of Tarsus, was at the forefront of efforts to stamp out the early church until Jesus stopped him on the road to Damascus, forever changing his life and mission. He joyfully faced persecution, imprisonment, and peril in order to share the love and redemption offered by Christ. Beautifully shot in the Moroccan desert, Paul the Apostle is a sweeping saga of the man who brought the Gospel to the Western world. Starring Johannes Brandrup, Thomas Lockyer, Barbora Bobulova, Ennio Fantastichini, G.W. Bailey, and Franco Nero.

The Apocalypse — In the late first century, the Roman Emperor Domitian unleashes a virulent campaign against Christians. Held captive by the Romans on the Island of Patmos, the aged Apostle John receives strange visions, including messages directly from Jesus to the seven persecuted churches on the nearby mainland. Key aspects of the story are firmly rooted in the biblical text and historical research. To propel the story, a few fictional characters are imagined, including a young Christian woman named Irene, who becomes important to John's mission. Driven by her wish to meet the last living witness of the Lord's passion, Irene succeeds in gaining access to John's prison. Entrusting the written record of his visions to her, he begs Irene to spread its message among the Christians. These visions form the contents of the Book of Revelation, the mysterious prophecy of Jesus’ return and a spiritual message for Christians of all eras. Starring Richard Harris.
